國立清華大學奈微所北森武彥教授實驗室 誠徵研究助理
Research assistant in large-scale integrated microfluidic/MEMS systems
Division
Applications are invited for a research assistant position in the joint research group of Profs. Takehiko Kitamori, Chihchen Chen, and Kyojiro Morikawa, National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. Two openings are currently available.
We established the “Daicel-NTHU Joint Research Center” in 2021, for developing large-scale integrated microfluidic/MEMS technology. The first application is “desktop chemical plant”, which is anticipated to contribute to next-generation i) high-performance chemicals for the semiconductor and biomedical industries, ii) green chemistry, and iii) sustainable development goals (SDGs).
This project is an international university-industry collaboration, including the Japanese company Daicel, and Taiwan local companies, providing a stimulating environment with expertise in micro/nanofluidics, glass chip design & fabrication, microsensors, and actuators.

Duties
Using a broad range of micro/nanofluidic techniques, including chip fabrication, surface modification, sensing and control of flow, temperature and pressure, we develop the desktop chemical plant.
The research assistant will be provided with an opportunity to learn and conduct the above techniques and to participate in international collaborations with partners of diverse disciplines.
Qualifications
An applicant must have obtained a master or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a master. The term for carrying out research can be granted for two years or longer.
Common qualifications are
- Expertise in the field of microfabrication and/or microfluidics is required.
- An ability to perform independently is important, however, the project is heavily integrated into other projects, and thus an ability to contribute as part of a team is required.
- Good English oral and writing skills are a must.
- Knowledge of analytical chemistry, reaction chemistry, and simulation are advantages.
Location: Hsinchu, possible short-term research activities in Japan.
Application process
An application must contain the following documents in English:
- A complete curriculum vitae, including date of the thesis defense, title of the thesis, previous and current academic positions, and academic distinctions, if any.
- A complete list of publications
- A summary of current work (no more than one page)
- A brief letter explaining your research interest and background experience that makes you suitable for the position
- Indicate a potential starting date
- A Recommendation letter
- Names and contacts of two referees.
The application is to be submitted to kitamori@mx.nthu.edu.tw with the email title “research assistant applicant – your name”.
