Microfluidic Systems for screening of affinity reagents and detection of molecular biomarkers: - Anirban

Abstract:

This study reports the optimization and integration of new microfluidic devices for different biological processes. Micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS)-based system has become enabling technologies in the past three decades. Different miniaturized sensors surround every individual but still, BioMEMS has many challenges to face. In this work, we have used BioMEMS to screen aptamer-based affinity reagents for CVD protein biomarkers and tried to optimize the overall process with minimal human intervention.

EDL Gated FET Biosensors for Cancer Cell Detection and Enumeration & Investigation of Bioelectric signals of Cells - Anil

Abstract:

In this research, we have designed, fabricated and characterized electrical double layer gated AlGaN/GaN High electron mobility (HEMT) biosensor array to capture, detect and count whole cells and investigate cellular bioelectric signals. GaN HEMT chips are assembled into a sensor array on a thermo-curable polymer substrate in a simple and robust packaging process. The array has multiple aptamer immobilized sensing sites and is highly sensitive and selective with up to single cell resolution.

"Screening and selection of affinity agents using integrated microfluidic platform: applications in biology”- Priya

Abstract:

In this proposal, two different integrated microfluidic platforms capable of performing SELEX for the screening of high-affinity aptamers against cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) cell lines and Troponin I (an important cardiovascular disease biomarker) in an automated fashion have been presented. Three highly specific aptamers were obtained for human inter-hepatic and intrahepatic cell lines which showed great potential in our experiments to determine the capture rate and binding selectivity.
